Mission And Outreach

Hope UMC offers facilities for many outdoor activities.

Hope UMC seeks to honor God through our stewardship of God's creation through recycling.

Hope UMC offers numerous mission and outreach opportunities:

Knit for Kids

In September 2006, the knitters at Hope United Methodist Church began a project to use their talents to warm and clothe the children of our world. Since then, they have continued to serve through their beautiful, colorful and lovingly made sweaters! It takes approximately 24 ounces of yarn for each sweater. We kindly accept donations of yarn. There are patterns available at the church and also online at www.knitforkids.org.

Associated Churches Neighborhood Food Network / Paper Pantry

With regular collections of and monetary donations, volunteers to sort at the warehouse and referrals to our local sites, Associated Churches Neighborhood Food Network is an important part of how our church reaches the hunger needs in our community. With 28 sites in Allen County and a wonderful network of volunteer churches and workers, we are proud to serve this ministry and follow Christ's command to "Feed My Lambs" (John 21)

Hope UMC also operates a Paper Pantry in Conjunction with Saint Joe Hessen Cassel.

Hope United Methodist Church Paper Pantry opens our eyes to the work of Christ in this World as we reach beyond ourselves. Collecting hygiene products, soaps, and other personal items, we partner with Saint Joseph Hessen Cassel Food Bank to provide products which food pantries cannot obtain through their regular food distribution sources, but which are greatly needed. This ministry moves us closer to God's command that whatever you do for the least of them, you do for Me.

Operation Backpack

Operation Backpack is a yearly service project conducted by local Churches to provide backpacks filled with needed school supplies. We service over 150 children at Heritage Elementary School.

United Methodist Commitee on Relief

Often called "UMCOR", this denominational relief organization is both an ongoing ministry to those who experience disaster, hardship and poverty as well as an emergency response ministry in times of disaster. Often first on scene alongside the American Red Cross and the National Guard, UMCOR has an amazing breadth and depth of ministry and outreach in its work. Our congregation has served on disaster response and relief teams, collected kits to assist cleanup, and served the distribution centers that supply UMCOR's work. One of the greatest things about UMCOR is that churches like ours support the administrative costs of the operation, so that 100% of any donations go directly to the relief and response work being done!  To learn more go to www.umcor.org.

Lion's Club

We support the work of our local Heritage Lion's Club by collecting glasses and encouraging their community outreach ministries.

Lenten, Advent and Special Offerings

Special seasonal offerings and 4th Sunday offerings are collected for specified missional programs, outreach ministries, local and global needs.
